Director Bio: Harrison Cheng founded the Tri-City Band Corps (TBC) back in 2003 when he was in high school, with just $6000 of his personal savings. Since then, he has grown, this community youth music program to over 1000 participants, multiple locations, and over a dozen different programs all in his spare time. Harrison's day job is serving as a college counselor helping kids apply to colleges. Outside of work and TBC, Harrison volunteers with local school band boosters, manages a drum major program, and does private counseling work. Harrison holds a Bachelor's in Molecular Cell Biology from UC Berkeley, a Certificate of College Counseling from UCLA, Masters in Business Administration from UC San Diego, and Masters of Software Management from Carnegie Mellon.

EXPLOSION OF EMOTIONS

Avantasia is back! Tobias Sammet is coming to Pratteln with his celebrated all-star metal opera project. The "Here Be Dragons Tour" will make a stop at the Z7 Summer Nights Open Airs in 2026 and invites us on a fantastic musical journey between reality, dreams, exuberance, and melancholy.

"Here Be Dragons" is the tenth studio album of the metal opera project Avantasia. And it has made quite an impact again: Number 1 in Germany and Austria, number 3 in the Swiss charts. Tobias Sammet's all-star parade is still a guarantee for success a quarter-century after the first output. The album, released in spring 2025, offers absolute Avantasia essentials like the big choruses and bombastic symphonic metal elements, while also surprising old and new fans with fascinating new soundscapes. "Here Be Dragons" enhances the continuously evolving and globally celebrated Avantasia sound that has been refined over more than 25 years with exciting and powerful facets. Tampa Florida, November 3, 2025: The prog-metal pioneers Savatage announce their eagerly awaited "Prelude To Madness" tour 2026. The launch will begin on July 19 in Istanbul, marking the long-awaited return to Europe. The concerts promise an explosive setlist, featuring songs from the entire catalog of the band, including classic anthems and deep cuts that underline Savatage's appreciation for their legendary fanbase, aka The Legion. In spring 2025, news spread like wildfire through the metal scene: Nevermore is making a comeback! Founding member Jeff Loomis (guitar) and long-time drummer Van Williams aim to revive the prog-metal legend with new collaborators. At the end of March, they announced: "The wait is over! After a long selection process, we have assembled a lineup that honors our legacy while also charting a new path into the future. We are very happy about this." The identities of the chosen ones will likely be revealed soon. Currently, preparations for the band's long-awaited return are in full swing: "We are getting ready for the next chapter of Nevermore, and we promise it will be worth the wait." Formed in 1992 from the ashes of the band Sanctuary, Nevermore established themselves in the metal Olympus between 1995 and 2010 with seven fantastic albums and a compelling stage presence. In the summer of 2026, the newly formed prog/thrash metallers from Seattle will come in a double bill with Savatage to Pratteln. It promises to be a high-profile summer night on Kraftwerkstrasse. Savatage frontman Zak Stevens can hardly wait: "We are very excited to welcome our old friends Nevermore as special guests."

META-SUMMER THUNDER WITH SAXON

The mighty Metal Eagle spreads its wings once again and lands on our outdoor stage in August 2026. The tireless NWOBHM legend Saxon comes for a show as part of the Z7 Summer Nights in Pratteln. Frontman Biff Byford still shows himself to be in impressive form even after five decades and once again brings his timeless Heavy Metal Thunder to Switzerland.

Saxon are the absolute hard workers of the metal scene. Founded 50 years ago in Barnsley, England as Son Of A Bitch, they have written Heavy Metal history up to today. Together with Iron Maiden, they were among the pioneers of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal in the early 80s and brought 5 albums into the Top 20 of the UK charts – at a time when you still had to sell quite a few physical records to have a chance in the charts. Saxon have since released 24 studio albums and countless live albums, and with their regular releases and seemingly endless tours, they remain a sure bet in the hard rock business. Saxon are one of the very few formations that have remained true to themselves and their sound throughout their entire career. And that is appreciated by the fans. With their latest work "Hell, Fire And Damnation," Saxon has once again exceeded all expectations in 2024 and created another Heavy Metal classic that walks the perfect line between confident, contemporary power and a respectful homage to the glorious New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Every performance oozes confidence. Biff Byford delivers his best vocals in years, drummer Nigel Glockler and bassist Nibbs Carter provide thunderous power for the rhythm. The guitars of Doug Scarratt and Brian Tatler are fresh, fiery, and complement each other perfectly. Musically, Saxon brings everything to the table that keeps the denim-and-leather crowd entertained. Together with Bob Marley, The Wailers have written reggae history. POWERFUL NDH-COLD FRONT

Weather change at Eisbrecher. The successful representatives of Neue Deutsche Härte are coming to Z7 for an exclusive Swiss show with their album "Kaltfront°!". The 2026 tour promises yet again exhilarating energy, strong stage presence, old and new hits, and the perfect mix of power and elegance.

With "Kaltfront°!", Eisbrecher made a convincing return in March 2025. The tenth studio album marks a new beginning after challenging years, during which the band had to reinvent itself both personally and musically. The latest work elevates the band to a new level. The songs are uncompromising, loud, and at the same time imbued with emotional depth that captivates the listener immediately. Singer and frontman Alexander Wesselsky describes "Kaltfront°!" as "the album I always wanted to make" – an impressive testament to resilience, musical evolution, and unbroken passion. "Kaltfront°!" unites Eisbrecher's characteristic hardness with elements of EBM, metal, and epic rock anthems.

DEEP PURPLE - MADE IN ITALY

All good things come in threes: After the celebrated shows in autumn 2024 and December 2025, the world's only all-female Deep Purple tribute band Strange Kind of Women will return to the Z7 in 2026. The five musicians will bring the magic of the British hard rock legend authentically and with unbridled joy to our venue once again on September 18.

Only a few tribute bands manage to actually come close to their role models in show and sound. Strange Kind of Women deliver outstanding work that has been praised by fans and critics alike. What the rock ladies are capable of was personally experienced by Deep Purple drummer Ian Paice. At a concert in Graz, he couldn't resist rocking out with Strange Kind of Women. Afterwards, he said, "It's really great fun to play with them. They do a fantastic job, have a great sound, and give their all on stage. I really enjoyed the joint performance." The band members are all professional musicians who have already celebrated success with various other formations. Band leader and guitarist Eliana Cargnelutti is the great new hope of the Italian blues-rock scene. The Italian-Canadian singer Victoria Moro aka Ronnie Grace acts as the frontwoman. They are accompanied by Chiara Cotugno (drums), Margherita Gruden (Hammond, keys), and Paola Zadra (bass). When Deep Purple co-founded the hard rock scene in the 70s with songs like "Highway Star," "Child In Time," or "Smoke On The Water," the five musicians had not yet been born. However, for the past few years, they have been expressing their love for this music in passionate stage performances, providing an exhilarating impression of the work of the iconic rock formation that was founded in London in 1968. In September 2024, SKOW first took the stage at the Z7. EXPLOSIVE BLUES-ROCK STORM

With his untamed guitar power, soulful vocals, and fine mix of blues and hard rock, Eric Steckel will be performing at Z7 again this year. The new album “Sandstorm” (Release: April 2026) showcases the musician more focused and explosive than ever. Heavy riffs, intense solos, and contemporary songwriting merge into a modern, powerful sound that excites both blues purists and hard rock fans.

Although he is only in his mid-30s, Eric Steckel already enjoys cult status in the international guitar scene and has an impressive resume. His debut album “A Few Degrees Warmer” was recorded live in April 2002 when he was just eleven years old. It didn’t take long for Eric to perform at the Sarasota Blues Festival, where his performance quickly became the talk of the day. And before the night was over, the newcomer was introduced by British blues-rock legend John Mayall as the youngest guitarist to ever take the stage with his Bluesbreakers. Steckel is a gifted musician who sometimes records an album almost entirely on his own and takes responsibility for piano, organ, bass, guitars, vocals, and production in the studio. With over 20 years of experience on stage and in the studio, Eric consistently delivers his characteristic blend of rock, blues, and blues metal to guitar lovers worldwide.

In October 2025, Steckel appeared with his power trio for the first time at Z7. Anyone who experienced the incredible show will surely not want to miss the concert next September. With the song “When It Rains, It Pours,” the exceptional artist gave a first taste of the new album “Sandstorm”: emotional vocals meet dynamic arrangements and a guitar sound that is raw, modern, and unmistakably Eric Steckel. The powerful production of the new songs was handled by Dan Malsch (Ghost, Gojira, Avenged Sevenfold, among others). With the album release in April, Steckel will kick off the World Tour 2026, where he will present the new material live. Fans can look forward to intense, energetic shows where Eric Steckel will not only introduce the brand-new titles but also perform selected highlights from his previous releases.

NEW ALBUM OF THE SYMPHONIC METAL QUEEN

Finland's most popular soprano voice, Tarja Turunen, returns to the Z7 with brand new material. After two celebrated "Living The Dream" greatest hits shows, during which she reflected on her successful career, we are excited to welcome the iconic metal singer back in October with her brand new album.

Over the past three years, Tarja Turunen has been touring with her "Living The Dream" greatest hits tours. Sometimes solo, sometimes together with her old Nightwish companion Marko Hietala. In between, she was a guest at "Rock Meets Classics" and gave festive Christmas concerts. But now the time is ripe for the next chapter in the singer's career. After seven long years, a new studio album by Tarja will be released in spring 2026. In autumn, the big album release tour will follow, bringing the artist to the Z7 on October 9th with her new material.

As a soprano, composer, and songwriter, co-founder, voice, and face of Nightwish, Tarja Turunen has significantly shaped the genre of Symphonic Metal for nine years. During this time, she was awarded numerous gold and platinum awards and was crowned the queen of the genre. After leaving the band, Tarja launched a successful solo career, resulting in six metal albums as well as several classical works and live releases. Her extraordinary abilities also led Tarja to fantastic collaborations. She has performed with shock rock legend Alice Cooper, symphonic colleagues Within Temptation, the German electronic artist Schiller, metal queen Doro Pesch, and the British "Father of Tubular Bells" Mike Oldfield, among others. However, the unique blend of Tarja's classical and rock influences continues to be best showcased in her solo releases. Marc Storace’s 75th Birthday Bash – A Rock Legend Celebration

75 years of Marc Storace. A voice that has written rock history. In October 2026, the legendary singer will celebrate his milestone birthday with a very special evening at Z7: a unique Birthday Bash full of hard rock, companions, and musical surprises. A celebration for fans – and for a career that is unmatched.

Born on October 7, 1951, in Malta, Marc Storace became one of the most influential voices in European hard rock. With Krokus, he certainly made music history and shaped the sound of an entire scene for decades.

After a brief forced pause during the pandemic, Storace opened a new chapter and founded Storace – a project that gave him creative freedom and consistently developed his musical signature. The albums Live And Let Live (2021) and Crossfire (2024) showcased a singer at the peak of his art: rough, charismatic, and unmistakable.

His 75th birthday will now be the occasion for a special evening at Z7. The concert evening is deliberately divided into two parts: First, a regular set with STORACE, followed by a second part that is all about surprises. PROG AROUND THE WORLD

The British retro-prog formation Big Big Train will come to Pratteln in autumn 2026. With the comprehensive concert recording “Are We Nearly There Yet? – Live Around The World”, the band released an exciting documentation of their last tours in October 2025. On the upcoming European tour, the band will once again present songs from all phases of their three-and-a-half-decade career.

Big Big Train continues to demonstrate high productivity even after 35 years: For the past 10 years, at least one studio and/or live album has been released each year. The amount does not detract from the quality. The creativity of the musicians remains unbroken. Founded in 1990 in Bournemouth, Big Big Train has become internationally successful protagonists of the progressive rock genre with 17 studio albums, various EPs, and live releases, and can look back on high international chart positions (#1 in the UK rock charts), various prestigious awards (4-time winners of the Progressive Music Awards), and countless sold-out concerts. Big Big Train remains true to their roots but also explores new paths. They incorporate influences from various genres and assert themselves as skilled boundary crossers between pop, rock, and prog in the style of English bands from the early 70s. In September 2023, Big Big Train last performed at Z7 with their “The Journey Continues Tour.” The colleagues from diebuehrers.com wrote about the live spectacle: “The 7-member band and their additional brass section immediately showed why they rightfully storm the charts. The multi-talented international band from Great Britain, the USA, Italy, Sweden, and Norway consisted of lead singer Alberto Bravin (PFM), drummer Nick D'Virgilio (Genesis, Spock's Beard, Tears For Fears), guitarist/keyboardist Rikard Sjöblom (Beardfish, Gungfly), violinist Clare Lindley (Stackridge), bassist Gregory Spawton, keyboardist Oskar Holldorff (Dim Gray), and the rising guitar star Maria Barbieri. With a varied setlist, the band offered a great selection of classics and, of course, songs from their new album ‘Ingenious Devices’. It was a really strong rolling prog train.” Meanwhile, another studio album titled “The Likes Of Us” has been added in 2024. In October 2025, the live recording “Are We Nearly There Yet? – Live Around The World” followed, documenting the British band's fantastic concerts from recent years. For this, Gregory Spawton and exceptional singer Alberto Bravin selected the best recordings from the past tours. Among them are Big-Big-Train favorites and current tracks, captured before enthusiastic fans in the USA, UK, and Europe.

ROCK’N’ROLL-UPROAR FROM SWITZERLAND

With a gritty vintage sound, modern energy, and explosive live shows, Basement Saints are on their way to securing a solid place in the European rock scene. The Swiss trio brings the spirit of Deep Purple & Co. into the here and now.

Basement Saints are the best proof that it does not take much to create great rock’n’roll: guitar, Hammond organ, and drums are enough to create a sound that feels both familiar and fresh. Inspired by legends like Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Steppenwolf, or The Doors, the band combines classic rock with a modern attitude that also excites fans of Rival Sons, Dirty Honey, or Marcus King.

The international origins of the band – with roots in South Africa, Austria, and Switzerland – are reflected in their musical diversity as well as their uncompromising work ethic. In a short time, the trio has built a remarkable live reputation. Countless shows as headliners, support acts, and at festivals in Switzerland, Germany, and Spain speak a clear language. LIMITLESS DIVERSITY

Rosalie Cunningham is considered one of the greatest musical talents in Great Britain. Classic Rock magazine exclaims: “If Kate Bush and The Beatles had a joint baby, it would be Rosalie Cunningham,” and Metal Hammer knows: “Rosalie Cunningham is a rockstar.” In October, the multifaceted artist will come to Switzerland with her fascinating mix of rock, folk, prog, jazz, goth, and pop.

Rosalie Cunningham is a musical all-round talent. At the tender age of 16, the Brit founded the psychedelic rock girl quartet Ipso Facto in 2007, which made waves with four singles. This was followed by various jobs as a backing vocalist and keyboardist for bands such as Magazine, The Last Shadow Puppets, Cathedral, or These New Puritans. As a guitarist, she was part of Willy Moon's band and toured as the opening act for Jack White. In 2011, Rosalie Cunningham founded the psychedelic band Purson, only to explore new paths again after six exciting years. Rosalie wrote countless songs that she began performing under her own name starting in 2019. Critics' acclaim quickly followed; her self-titled debut album made its way into annual best-of lists in several European countries. The "Prog" magazine even ranked her among the ten best female musicians of all time, and in a reader survey, Cunningham was voted the best singer. Over the years, the music has become more intricate, with songwriting not relying on gimmicks but captivating through a range of sounds and both vocal and instrumental excellence. The artist can hardly be pigeonholed stylistically. She proves this with her current work "To Shoot Another Day," which offers rock between psychedelic and metal with numerous musical flirts. Betreutesproggen.de wrote: “With all her compositional skills, she can make her music sound complex or slightly jazzy without really being jazz; it is the voice of the singer-songwriter that stands out.
