About Bakkushan:
Hello darling, I unfortunately have to end our relationship. The time with you was very nice and it somehow really hard for me to tell you this, but I have fallen in love. I love BakkuShan. I saw them at a concert and was totally overwhelmed. It was like love at first sight when their awesome guitar riffs captured my heart. It was hot, bodies rubbing against each other while dancing, and the air was trembling with energy. I have never experienced anything like that before, not even with you. I could really let loose and even understood the lyrics because they were in German!!! Maybe you will understand my decision someday. Let's stay friends. PS: Please take care of the kids!

Sex, Drugs and Rock n`Roll? Honestly, who even cares about this myth anymore? How boring is it to see Amy Winehouse stumble, or to have to listen forever to the perpetually young old folks talking about the past.
What really goes down is as follows: There's a student party in the shared flat. There's beer in the bathtub, good people. You think: Shit, I have to get up early tomorrow, better head home! Although, come on, just one more beer. But then it's over. Well, okay, let's get another... And then the next morning you do have to get up early, and at the university you meet the others, who are not feeling any better, but all had an awesome evening just like you. A good time. The band whose songs were playing yesterday and perfectly fitting the night is called BAKKUSHAN and they will definitely make a name for themselves this year.
The story of BAKKUSHAN (a Japanese term for the phenomenon of a girl who looks pretty from behind but less so from the front) started in Mannheim: During their studies, Daniel Schmidt (vocals), Robert Kerner (guitar), Jan Siekmann (drums), and Christian Kalle (bass) four guys quickly became friends and unanimously agreed on a common goal: Finally have a band where they can uncompromisingly realize their own ideas. Songwriter Daniel Schmidt, who like his bandmates was previously involved in various other projects, puts it in a nutshell: "We wanted to make music that doesn't end up in the trash can after long discussions or gets stuck in a creative dead end." So, onto the fast lane: Daniel Schmidt locks himself in his room and works on the computer to create the EP "Springwut". Originally intended as a demo to work further with the band, the songs quickly develop their own dynamic: "Springwut" starts circulating on the internet. This is rock music that wants to break free. Music that carves out its path with a burning heart and a thirst for freedom.
From there, everything happened quickly: a fantastic "Springwut" video is created for a few euros and independently, the MySpace community is nurtured and expanded, and the band books its first tour with almost 40 shows. "Do-It-Yourself" is the motto: The four catch fire, have an incredible amount of fun advancing the band, making it the center of their lives. They casually win the Jägermeister Video Contest, are then able to produce a professional version of their "Springwut" video that perfectly conveys the song's energy. BAKKUSHAN becomes a hot topic in blogs and forums, the clubs are packed, the people are excited, leading to a performance at the Hurricane Festival 2008, and the band is eager for the next step: a record deal with Virgin/EMI and off to Cologne, where they find a one-room apartment for the recording of their debut album. Maximum band experience in minimal space. Long days in the studio, short nights on air mattresses. Every hour, every day: BAKKUSHAN and yet there's never any argument, because, as Daniel Schmidt puts it, "we all simply had the goal to record the best possible album". Goal achieved, no question. With studio pro Moritz Enders, who previously worked with bands like Donots and Blackmail, a rock album full of life comes to life. Songs that confidently smirk at the designed pseudo-rock bands out there: This, dear people, is honest music with heart, soul, and straight from the hip. Cheeky, ironic but never silly. Sometimes thoughtful, but always with a strong determination to help you out of every valley in the end.
BAKKUSHAN is the band you just saw on the big stage at the festival, the one that then sticks a sticker on your butt, sneaks into your tent, and steals your beer. And if you catch them doing that, they will rock your camping tent for you and your friends. How they do it is shown in the fast-paced and edgy pre-release track "Baby, du siehst gut aus" (Baby, you look good), whose chorus also serves as the band's motto: "I want to see you dance!" Another highlight of the album: the upcoming single "Alles war aus Gold" (Everything was made of gold), the favorite song of the year for all those who previously believed that only Madsen or the Sportfreunde Stiller could produce such hits in Germany: "It's the good times that will ultimately remain and bond us together for a lifetime. They are the good days, and only the best moments will stay with you and me in the end."
